How to use Make Me Admin

Users needing administrator rights on their desktop can request access via TeamDynamix. UAFS uses a product called MakeMeAdmin that grants the user admin rights for a period of 10 minutes to install software or make changes to their desktop.

Important Notes

  • Only use MakeMeAdmin when necessary.
  • Do not install unauthorized software.
  • Administrative access is temporary and will expire after 10 minutes.

 

Make Me Admin Windows | Make Me Admin Jamf Self Service

 

Make Me Admin for Windows

  1. Click on the Make Me Admin shortcut in the Start Menu
  2. Click Grant Me Administrator Rights
    • NOTE: The message should appear for a few seconds in the System Tray stating that you are now an administrator.  You will be a local administrator for 10 minutes.    
  3. Hold down the SHIFT key and right click on the software application that you want to install.  
  4. Click on Run As Different User
  5. Enter YOUR username and password when prompted
  6. Click OK
  7. If you receive a User Account Control prompt to allow changes, click Yes

NOTE: After 10 minutes, the message should appear for a few seconds in the System Tray stating that you are no longer an administrator.

 

Make Me Admin in UAFS Jamf Self Service

  1. Open the UAFS Jamf Self Service app from the Applications folder or Launchpad
  2. Use the search bar or browse the Featured section to find the MakeMeAdmin policy
  3. Click the Run button underneath the MakeMeAdmin icon 
  4. You will see a pop-up prompt confirming temporary admin access
  5. Click the Make me an admin, please button to continue
  6. To end access early, restart your MAC
