Who is eligible for a campus IP phone?

Any employee approved by the head of their department to have the use of a campus phone.     

 

What models are available?

The campus uses several models of phone. Most phones are either 2-line, 7841 model or 10-line, 8811 model phones. We have some spare phones for replacement use only of these models. If there is a new position on campus that needs a phone or a phone needs to be upgraded, a phone will need to be purchased.

 

What about phones for conference calls?

All phones have speaker phone capabilities which will work as a conference phone. If you do not have one in your area, you can request a loan from the Service Desk by calling 788-7460.

 

Who is eligible for a campus IP phone?

Enter an incident in TeamDynamix for New Employee and include telephone information.

 

My phone isn't working right. How do I get it repaired?

Enter an incident in TeamDynamix or call the Service Desk at 788-7460 to report the problem.

 

My current phone doesn’t meet my needs. What are my upgrade options?

Enter an incident in TeamDynamix. The only differences on the phones that employees have now is the number of lines. All of them are speaker phone compatible and have all the same features. You would need to get approval from the head of your department for the purchase of an upgraded phone.

 

How much does a phone cost and which department pays for a new or upgraded phone?

The cost depends on the model of phone that has the features you need. The cost of the base phone is $150.00 to $200.00. You would need to discuss with the head of your department the features you want to get approval for the purchase of an upgraded phone.

 

Can I take my phone across campus and use it there?

Technically, the phone will work if connected to a network connection in any building. The network cable may not be active or connected to the correct type of switch. If you want to take your phone across campus to use, enter an incident in TeamDynamix for assistance or call the Service Desk at 788-7460.

 

How do I move my phone to a different office?

If you are moving a PC and phone, the Technology department employees will move both for you. If it is just a phone, you can move it after approval given when you enter a request in TeamDynamix to Move a Telephone so that all information gets updated, including 911 and we can make sure the switch in the new office is activated. Phone numbers cannot be moved from the campus building they are assigned to.

 

Can I take my phone off campus and use it there?

No, the IP phone is set up to work on our network and with our Cisco phone system.
