How to add a networked printer or copier

Two things you will need to know before you start are the server and printer name of the printer or copier you want to print to: 

  • The server name should be \\print1\
  • The printer name will be located on the printer or copier (ex: ms231A90, bd11190, etc)

Once you have the above information, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Start then type Control Panel
  2. Click on Devices and Printers
  3. Click on Add a Printer then click on The printer that I want isn't listed
  4. Click Select a shared printer by name
  5. In the Name box, you will need to enter the printer or copier name (ex: \\print1\MS231A90)
  6. Click Select
  7. Click Next
  8. Choose whether you want this printer or copier to be your default printer or copier
    1. Unless this will be the printer or copier you will always use select N
  9. Click on Finish
